A huge congratulation to Erin Mitchell from 2nd year.

A huge congratulation to Eloise McNulty from 3rd year.

Eloise achieved a fantastic 5th place this year at the British Figure Skating Championships, at the Intermediate Novice Level

Erin Mitchell 2E

Congratulations to Erin Mitchell 2E who has passed her Shodan 1st Dan/Black belt in Karate.

Erin has been training hard for 6 years to reach this level.

The day after this fantastic achievement she travelled to Luton to win a gold medal in a national tournament.

Gregor Doran 2C

Congratulations to Gregor Doran 2C who won gold in both 25m backstroke and 25m freestyle at the west of Scotland
Federation of Swimming Clubs for People with a Disability - Regional Championships.

After training hard this year he has achieved his first gold medals and they are hopefully not his last.

Well done Gregor.

Eloise McNulty 2G

We all wish Eloise McNulty from 2G the very best of luck when she competes Internationally for
Great Britain in figure skating at the Sofia Trophy in Bulgaria.

Maria McAneny 2B

Maria McAneny in second year undertakes volunteer work at K Park Training Academy at Calderglen.
Something she has done for over a year.

She helps with the soccer coaching camps for children of all ages. Maria deals with not only the
coaching but also the administrative tasks as well as turning her hand to maintenance duties.

Malcolm Innes, 2E

Malcolm was a credit to the community over the last week. He spent numerous hours supporting the vulnerable
in the difficult snow conditions. He is also to be commended for his tireless
work with the Mary’s Meals charity.

Chloe Bodwick 2F2

Congratulations to second year Chloe Bodwick who has been selected for the Scotland school girl development boxing squad.

A great achievement, well done.

Congratulations to Amy McKee who plays District Netball.
Amy has been playing for under 15’s Glasgow netball team since August 2017.

Michael Ruiz Gilmour 2F1

Congratulations to Michael Ruiz Gilmour who plays the drums and has recently achieved grade 1 and is regularly Involved in various performances.

Aidan Sharkey 2C

Congratulations to Aidan Sharkey in second year who plays golf at Torrance House Golf Club.
As a member of the junior team he has received 2 trophies for 2017 and previously 1 trophy for 2016.

Sophie Wallace of 1B

Congratulations to Sophie Wallace of 1B who has achieved the status of Black Belt at Taekwon-Do.

Sophie attends Master Hutton's Black Belt Academy and has been involved in Taekwon-Do since she was four years old. Committing to a training regime that involves five or six sessions a week Sophie has also had to study the theory of Taekwon-Do to attain the Black Belt grade. Her parents and all at St Andrew’s and St Bride’s High School are very proud of this achievement.

Jack McGleish is off to NASA!
Last session Jack McGleish beat off stiff competition to earn himself a place at Strathclyde University’s Scottish Space School. Every summer 100 successful S5 Scottish school pupils attend a week-long residential summer school at the University. The programme for the week is made up of a mix of lectures, labs and workshops on a space theme and it is delivered by academics and researchers from the Faculty, as well as visiting NASA representatives.
Following the week, 10 of the students are chosen for a once in a lifetime visit to NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas.
Our very own Jack McGleish made it into the top 10! Jack will be off to Houston from the 20th to the 29th of October. We are sure he will have an amazing time and be an excellent ambassador for our school.
Well done Jack, the Physics Department are very proud.

Hockey success
Andrew Lochrin (S5) has been selected to play Hockey for Scotland Under 18s in the Futures Cup. Well done Andrew and good luck! 

Kelvingrove Art Gallery Competition
The following pupils took part in the annual Kelvingrove Art Gallery Competition the 16th May and have had their artwork recognised.

Rowing Success
Congratulations to Nia Struthers who won her first rowing medal in the U18 Pairs at Strathclyde Park rowing meeting

SLC Enterprising Maths Competition
Congratulations to the following 4 pupils -Cian Toner 3F, Sean Harkin 3D, Clare Brolly 4G, Beth Farr 4G, who came 1st in South Lanarkshire at the SLC Enterprising Maths Competition. They will now compete in the Nationals in October.

Congratulations to the S1-S3 Girls football team who swept all aside to win the Summer Cup 5 a side trophy at Hamilton Palace Grounds.

Modern Languages Word Wizard Competition
Prior to the holidays we received word that Ava Byrne and Lewis Byrne (both S1) had reached the final of the Word Wizard spelling bee competition for Modern Languages. This means that both pupils are now amongst the top five competitors in Scotland, a tremendous achievement.
The prestigious national final will be held at the Scottish Parliament building in May.
Honourable mention goes to S2 competitors Rudy Brown, Lisa Caffrey and Sean Harkin as well as S1’s Aidan Johnstone, all of whom managed to reach the semi-final of the competition - another fantastic feat for the school.
All pupils were a credit to the school and put on impressive displays of their skills and knowledge during their respective heats.

Scottish Space School 2017
Congratulations to Jack McGleish of S5 who has been successful in his application to the Scottish Space School 2017.
The Space School programme is an opportunity for the pupils who attend to participate in a number of engineering-based activities, all of which are aimed at increasing the awareness of engineering and the career opportunities available.
It is a one week residential programme run by the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Strathclyde. Each year 100 S5 pupils from schools all over Scotland attend the programme and stay on the University campus for the week.

Junk Kouture 2017
Yesterday Bronagh Miller and Lauren Wilcox S3 attended the Grand Finals of the Junk Kouture Scotland Competition in the Clyde Auditorium. Bronagh and Lauren were a delight to be with, practicing the routine and make up styles throughout the day, they did our school proud. Bronagh performed her routine just after the interval about 8:30 showcasing her outfit Siren of the Sea on the catwalk for 60 secs in perfect timing to 3,000 people at the Clyde Auditorium!

For the 3rd year in a row our school has won the Micro-Tyco award for fundraising.

Congratulations to our own Andrew Muir (S3) for winning the Most improved Cadet Award.

Donald Dewar Memorial Law Society Debating Competition
Congratulations to Caitlin McPhillie and Emma Barrie in S5 who last night qualified for the 2nd round of the Donald Dewar Memorial Law Society Debating Competition. They went through in the face of 3 very talented teams from Holy Cross and Biggar High School.

South Lanarkshire Council’s Youth Action Plan 2016-2017
The South Lanarkshire Council’s Youth Action Plan 2016-2017 was launched at council headquarters on Thursday 17/11/16. 
Our own Jasmine Erdi,2F, was the main presenter along with a contribution from Chloe Carmichael, 4B. 
The project was also supported by 3 members of our pupil council group. Harry Mulvey, Beth Cushley and Gregor Frame.

Boxing Success
A big congratulations to Chloe Bodwick (S1), Anthony O'Neil (S4) and Ryan Barden (Former pupil) who won the Scottish Boxing titles at the Novice Championships last weekend. 
Chloe and Anthony won their contests by stopping their opponents in the 2nd round.

Association of Scottish Literature Society’s Young Writers Competition Winner
Congratulations to Beth Farr 3G for winning this year’s Association of Scottish Literature Society’s Young Writers Competition. This is a national competition open to all Scottish pupils in S1 and S2. Beth wrote a wonderful short story and very deservedly won the first prize. She will be presented with her winning certificate and £100 at the annual conference in October as well as having her story published in ScotLit and The Burns Chronicle.
