£719 from St Andrew’s Day helping 5 of our pupils going to Lourdes during the Spring Break and two of our S6 pupils going to Ghana and Kenya during the summer and £850 from ‘Christmas Jumper Day’ going to Teenage Cancer Trust.
This is fantastic especially when we having been contributing to Microtyco, the Shoebox Appeal and the EK Food bank.  An enormous thank you to all!

Engine Idling Campaign
South Lanarkshire Council have been keen to raise the profile of their Engine Idling Campaign arround schools. Our pupils, through their Pupil Forum, asked the council a number of questions and were given responses for each one. To find out the responses click HERE

BBC News Report
The 10th annual News Day for BBC School Report was on Thursday 10th March and St Andrew's and St Bride's took part!
Our stories included the current refugee crisis, the upcoming Olympics, a special report on the pupil council, entertainment news on the aftermath of the Oscars and the latest weather report. Pupils were on the air and online on the BBC throughout the day. Check it out at

Let’s talk about maths 
A group set up to challenge negative attitudes towards maths wants to hear the views of parents’ and young people. The Making Maths Count expert group, established by  Education Secretary Angela Constance, has launched a short online questionnaire to find out how people feel about maths and how they use their maths skills. The group, which brings together expertise from industry, academia and science, has been tasked with identifying which factors can create negative attitudes towards maths, before making its recommendations on how to improve the nation’s enthusiasm for and participation in the subject. Teachers, parents, carers and young people are all encouraged to contribute their thoughts as part of the group’s call for evidence.

The Oystercatcher
The school newspaper site surpassed 10,000 hits on Saturday. Since our launch at the end of September the newspaper has published 112 articles on every topic under the sun, and we have sold 450 paper copies in two editions. This is all down to the remarkable talents of our sizeable group of S1 – S6 journalists.

Faith Celebrations
Morning Mass is celebrated in the school Oratory on Monday and Friday mornings between 8.20 and 8.40.  All pupils, parents and staff are invited.
